My favorite movie is I Know Who Killed Me, a 2007 psychological thriller starring Lindsay Lohan that was rated as "one of the worst films ever made." I wrote a post about it!
There's something sooo intriguing about a movie with such a heinous rating. Like they tried to do something inventive and the world just wasn't ready for it!
What an interesting Hugh Grant quote--and I totally agree with him! Movies, and entertainment in general, is meant to be just that, so everything does not always have to be Oscar-worthy. Perhaps classifying movies as "bad" is part of the problem? Since bad all the sudden means it is just not a good movie, but it seems like you're saying you enjoy the movie still, but I'm not sure what the new identifier would be. I like to say it's an entertaining movie and I enjoyed it, rather than bad, because to me, the movies aren't bad!
Good point, I think I used "bad" as a gimme to the people who may genuinely think the movies are bad. To establish a bit of common ground before I argued my point. But I agree, I usually classify things as entertaining, unless they're truly terrible lol.
I enjoyed your post. I tend to be careful in my selection of movies but I generally like those that can absorb my interest pretty early. I don’t watch a lot and generally choose movies that someone else has recommended or have an Oscar vibe.
But when it comes to novels I could just replace movies with novels. I like to be entertained. Literary fiction to cookie cutter “who done it?” I know how you feel.
